Autumn Planting: September – November

We have Pansies and Violas in every colour imaginable. For a more shady area Polyanthus and bedding Primrose may be a more suitable choice. They are available from early September and it is important for the best Winter displays, that they are planted early to give them time to establish whilst the ground is still warm.

Our range of Spring bulbs is available from the August Bank Holiday weekend.  DaffodilsCrocus and Snowdrops are best planted in September/October and Tulips best done in October November. Additionally we have a selection of other variety of bulbs available.

Late Summer Heathers start flowering in August and can be mixed with Winter Heathers to give a long flowering period to the following April.

Wallflowers are available for planting in 2 varieties. For colour throughout Winter/Spring we have a scented dwarf variety called Sugar Rush. Or bare rooted standard height for Spring colour.

If you would like us to refil your hanging basket or make you some new ones up for the Winter, then please let us know before the end of August. We make the majority of them ready for any time in October, but we advise that you book them in with us so that they will be ready for when you would like. Or why not make your own up and choose from our selection of plants.  We are always happy to offer advice on which plants will work well in hanging baskets and pots, and for an extra boost in the Spring, why not underplant with bulbs.

We still have an extensive range of Perennials, especially late flowering varieties, and Ornamental Grasses which produce seed heads in August and look great right through until the end of October. For outstanding foliage colour throughout the year, Heucheras are unsurpassed.  They come in shades of bronzepurples and lime green.

Autumn is also a good time to plant trees, and we have just stocked up again for the season. Come and have a look. Bare rooted hedging and trees will also be available for planting. These are only available to order for planting later in the season. Please phone or email us for more details.

If you do not know the best plants for your garden, pots or baskets then just ask. If we do not have the plant that you are looking for please ask and we will try to get this from one of our local growers.
